How to drink H2O!
So why drink water? Water does a number of wonderful things for your body.
- It prevents muscle cramping
- It cleanses
- It helps you lose weight.
- It helps regulate body temperature
- It keeps you stay hydrated and less cranky
- It keeps you be alive!
How do I know how much water to drink a day, really?
- This is how to calculate the amount of water you should try to drink per day. Take your weight in lbs. then divide by 2. That number is the number of ounces you should try to drink a day. Wt. / 2 = oz. For example: let’s take a 150 lbs person. 150/2 = 75 oz. It doesn't’t leave much room for pop or juice does it? Now you are getting the picture! Get a water bottle that has the number of ounces measured on the side. Water intake for kids might differ.
- Note that there are many fruits and veggies that are loaded with water which would go towards your amount per day.
- Your urine should be clear and odorless. If it is dark yellow and stinky then you are dehydrated and you need to drink more water.
Wait a minute! You don’t like water. Now what?
- So you don’t like water? Well then I guess you are going to have to lose weight so you don’t have to drink so much! Ha ha ha…that was funny. If you don’t like water, try drinking it with a straw.
- Now if you’re pregnant and can’t keep any plain water down….been there, done that. Drink the energy vitamin waters. Drinking those are a lot better than getting an IV….been there, done that! If you have hyperemisis and need someone to talk to feel free to contact me.
Do I drink cold water or water at room temperature?
- Drink it cold or at room temperature doesn’t matter in my book as long as you are drinking it. I prefer room temperature.
What about bottled water vs tap water?
- That is up to you. You might be able to get a water testing report from your city water department. They should be able to mail you water test results if you are concerned.
- Our family uses those water filters that attach to your sink and have their own spicket. Say spicket…fun word, isn’t it? Anyway, the sink filters are earth friendly.
- If you can’t get a sink filter then I would suggest bottled water that comes in a gallon jug. Try to avoid those 12 oz bottles of water. They do a doosey on the environment and they are expensive.
When do I drink all this water?
- Drink a glass when you wake up…you are probably dehydrated from a nights slumber. Plus it helps with the morning breathe. Not to mention getting your digestive system a boost.
- Drink between meals
- Don’t drink a whole lot with meals…it hinders the digestive system and the nutrients get flushed through your body too fast to absorb properly.
- Always have a bottle of water in your car and one ready at work, at home, or in your backpack.
What if I don’t want to pee every 30 minutes?
- Tough toenails, you’re going to have to pee, not sure about the every 30 minutes. You better scout out the bathrooms at all your favorite errand places. Yes, I know, public restrooms are not pretty; just put a couple sanitary wipes or tissues in your pocket.
